Orientation Leader Summer 2026

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Orientation Leader (OL) team will assist first year, transfer, non-traditional, international students, and family members with their transition to the Boise State University community at in-person programs throughout the summer. This role can have the ability to continue through the fall semester by supporting various first-year-support events and initiatives with New Student Programs. Application will open Monday, January 5th 2026 and close on Sunday, February 1st 2026 at 11:59PM. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Collaborate with a team of 26 OLs, 4 student Orientation Coordinators (who also serve as peer mentors/supervisors), 2 Bronco Family Ambassadors, professional staff, and other campus offices.
  • Actively participate in ALL of the required training dates, orientation programs, and other events designated as part of the position.
  • Encourage new students to establish relationships by facilitating group discussions and team building.
  • Participate in all other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must: 

  • Demonstrate professionalism, timeliness, self-motivation, and ability to give/receive constructive feedback.
  • Serve as a positive role model for new students by setting an example for academic and personal behavior supporting the University Shared Values and Student Code of Conduct.
  • Interact positively with new students, families, and students with personal concerns (i.e. housing, making friends, peer pressure, study skills, etc.).
  • Work as a contributing team member with fellow OLs, OCs, Bronco Family Ambassadors, faculty, and staff.
  • Treat all information divulged through this position with respect and confidentiality.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service experiences for all new students, parents, families, and guests of the university.

REQUIRED DATES:

Required In-Person Spring Trainings:

  • Week of March 9th-13th  (exact day TBD)  7:00 - 9:00 pm  *time subject to change*
  • Week of March 23rd-27th (exact day TBD)  7:00 - 9:00 pm  *time subject to change*
  • Week of April 6th - April 10th (exact day TBD)  7:00 - 9:00 pm  *time subject to change*
  • Week of April 20th - 24th  (exact day TBD)  7:00 - 9:00 pm  *time subject to change*
    • We will have a total of 4 Spring trainings. One training each of the weeks listed above. Exact time and date will be determined after hiring the team. 

Required In-Person Summer Trainings: 

  • Overnight Team Retreat: Sunday, May 17th - Monday May 18th
  • Trainings (Attendance in-person for all dates is mandatory):
  • Tuesday, May 19th - May 22nd (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Tuesday, May 26th - May 28th (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Thursday, June 11th - June 12th (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Welcome Week and ISO Training: Tuesday, August 18th 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

August Orientation Programs & Events:

  • August 19th (Wednesday) International Student Orientation (Time TBD)
  • August 21st (Friday) Convocation, B on the Blue, Find your class tours (Time TBD)

Additional Opportunity for Fall 2026

  • September 2026 - January 2027
    • Ongoing support for first year students as needed at various events. More details can be provided at the point of interviews. 

POSITION ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must: 

  • Be a continuing, full-time enrolled undergraduate Boise State student since at least the fall of 2025; must plan to attend Boise State full-time in fall of 2026 (students with plans to study abroad in the 2026-27 academic year or who have military requirements are exempt).
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the time of application.
  • Be in good standing with the university at the time of application, and maintain good standing through the duration of the position.
  • Additional jobs/classes during summer must be approved by the supervisor, Olivia Paine.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

  • Stipend RANGES from $3,080-$3,773  (pre-tax; distributed bi-weekly; paid throughout the Summer). This range is dependent on if you opt into the on-campus housing. 
  • You will also be able to clock an additional 25 hours when working at International Student Orientation and Bronco Welcome Events in August  and will be paid for those.
  • Housing on campus for summer (APPROX May 15th through August 1st) 
    • Housing through your OL role is available to you at an unbeatable rate. Should you choose to live on campus, “rent” will be deducted from your total stipend. You will receive a stipend of roughly $3,080 if you choose to opt into housing. This is to account for your “rent” for the Summer months (approx. 700 dollars). 
  • iPad for work use

Fall 2026:

  • Opportunity to continue supporting our office in the Fall. To be determined based on availability and support for events and activities that are needed. More details will be provided on this during the Summer. 

Additional compensation opportunity for Bilingual Spanish Speakers: 

  • Bilingual Spanish speakers may be asked to use their language skills during Orientation to support Spanish speaking families and students through conversation, small group presentations and our Spanish Welcome event. Additional Hours will be added if and when translation or interpretation support is needed. 
  • Applicants must be comfortable speaking conversationally
