Marketing and Operations Intern at the Boise Farmers Market

OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATION AND THE ROLE:
The Boise Farmers Market is a weekly market operation running from April - December annually. The Marketing and Operations Intern will report directly to the Market Manager and provide support with development of marketing materials along with providing support as needed for general market operations.
OPPORTUNITY / PROJECT DUTIES:
- Creating social media posts on Canva about in-person events, market accomplishments, and volunteer encouragement
- Create a schedule for social media posts, with pre-created content that can continue to be posted after internship
- Research social media accounts within the industry and provide recommendations for social media posting strategies and relevant trends
- Pull weekly data from social media sites and newsletter emails (take raw data from Meta Business suite and Mailchimp and put it into an Google Sheets file)
- Create graphs and charts to illustrate metric trends
- Increase followers & engagement on social media accounts
- On-site photography at Saturday Markets and Market Events (DSLR camera provided if intern does not have a preferred device)
- Put together a marketing campaign / strategy for Winter Market Events
- Develop ways to gain more insight about users, customers, partners, attendees, volunteers, etc.
- Create surveys that support gaining information and support marketing strategies
- General support to Market Manager as needed for market operations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum professional office environment preferred
- Skilled in the fundamentals of graphic layout, and composition.
- An interest in local and regional food systems
- Solid comprehension of Canva and continue to learn new techniques
- Handle day-to-day tasks and prioritize as new projects are given, meet deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
SKILLS THAT INTERN WILL DEVELOP
- Organizational skills and practice with long-term marketing planning
- Understanding of what is involved in running a weekly farmers market
- Practice taking photos at on-site events, capturing raw moments that showcase the energy of the event
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have availability to attend in person at market office and market events (including the Boise Farmers Market on Saturday mornings)
