OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATION AND THE ROLE:
The Idaho Office for Refugees (IOR) coordinates statewide services that support the successful resettlement and integration of refugees in Idaho. This internship combines communications, marketing, and multimedia storytelling to strengthen outreach and accessibility. The intern will support content creation across platforms while contributing to a video project that incorporates translated materials and collaboration with interpreters and a professional video production partner.
OPPORTUNITY / PROJECT DUTIES:
- Develop and schedule social media content aligned with IOR programs and campaigns
- Design outreach materials, including flyers and digital graphics, for community events and programs
- Draft and edit content for newsletters and website updates
- Maintain and update the community events calendar to ensure timely and accurate information
- Conduct content research to support culturally responsive and accessible communications
- Coordinate logistics and communications for the Refugee Speakers Bureau
- Support planning and execution of outreach events, including tabling and community engagement
- Assist in the development of a multimedia video project, including coordinating with interpreters and a video production partner
- Help adapt and integrate translated materials into outreach and communications efforts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written communication skills
- Basic experience with social media platforms and/or graphic design tools
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work well cross-culturally
- Interest in nonprofit, refugee, and community-based work
SKILLS THAT INTERN WILL DEVELOP:
- Strategic communications and content development for diverse audiences
- Cross-cultural communication and working with interpreters and translated materials
- Project coordination, including multimedia production and community engagement
