Grinder Parts Sales Internship

This document provides basic information for the work performed. It may or may not be all inclusive of tasks to be performed. (A large portion of the internship will involve shadowing the sales staff to gain sales knowledge and experience. This is an immersion internship in which the intern will be a part of the sales team.)

General

The Grinder Parts Sales Representative is responsible and accountable for the sale of Diamond Z brand grinder parts, and other products.  The incumbent will prospect for new customers and dealers, make sales presentations, prepare and present sales quotes, maintain customer files and information, answer questions for customers, close sales, follow up on production and delivery schedules, and follow up with customers after completion of the order.      The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of department processes and procedures.

Essential Duties
 
  • Effectively communicates with customers by phone, email or other means concerning inquiries about grinder parts. Develops long term relationships with customers or prospective customers. 
  • Maintains industry and product knowledge. 
  • Maintains all grinder parts sales activity including scheduling and managing all related documentation from start to finish.
  • Maintains and supplies product and promotional materials (ie: brochures, price sheets, model specifications). Maintains price sheets for all domestic and international product lines.
  • Communicates with customers concerning funding and terms of sale.
  • Works with the Transportation Coordinator to schedule the shipment of products.
  • Contacts regular and prospective customers and dealers to assess needs, demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders. Communicates with customers to persuade them to purchase products.
  • Supports dealer requests.
  • Communicates prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, delivery dates, and any other information pertinent to the sale of grinder parts.
  • Consult with clients after sales in order to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
  • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from various sources, such as, existing clients, internet, direct calls, attending trade shows or conferences, or cold calls.
  • Develops, maintains, and references client files in CRM leads management software. Provides reports to VP of Products.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
·        Handles complaints, disputes, or conflicts with customers. Reports to the Production Manager any instances of non-conformance of quality, customer requirements, schedule, delivery, or safety. Works with the Production Manager, Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance, or other appropriate personnel to resolve issues and satisfy the customers’ needs. 
·        Assists with the evaluation of dealer territories.

  • Uses and maintains required personal protective equipment as outlined in the Rule Steel Safety Manual.

Other

·     May arrange and direct delivery and installation of products and equipment for grinders and parts.
·     Assists with preparation for trade shows. 
·     Assists with marketing needs.
·     Assists other sales personnel as needed.
·        Recommends and implements changes to improve processes and reduce costs.

Working Conditions
 
The Sales Representative will generally work in a controlled climate office environment, but may also occasionally be in a shop and yard environment with possible exposure to the elements and other hazards.
