Business Intelligence Intern

We currently have a Business Intelligence Intern position available at our Simplot headquarters in Boise, ID.
SUMMARY
Simplot is on a transformational journey focused on delivering value to our customers now and in the future. The Information Management and Analytics (IM&A) Team is responsible for creating and maintaining a modern data and analytics platform to support our company’s dynamic global needs. In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn about building a complete value chain from source system to a Kimball-modeled Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI) Platform, that provides insight across the entire organization. We are currently looking for an ambitious and innovative student who is interested in joining our Business Intelligence Team to contribute to our efforts to inspire a data-driven culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Team on process improvements
- Research and document data sourcing and mapping
- Cleanse data based on Business rules captured from Stakeholders
- Compile and present data quality statistics
- Design processes to automate manual tasks
- Partner with Team to test ideas in development
- Work with Team to operationalize improvements
- Learn to apply Kimball methodology to contribute to data modeling efforts
- Practice translating technical topics to Business language
- Manage time between school and work efforts
- Contribute to a future data and analytics environment for a diverse global enterprise
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree-seeking program
- Major: Computer Science, Information Technology Management (ITM), or Engineering; Emphasis: Business Analytics, Data Science
- Experience with databases (e.g., querying, transformations, etc.)
- Possess a growth mind set and eager to contribute to a collaborative Team
- Eager to learn about technologies/methods (e.g., Microsoft Stack BI Platform [SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSMS, DAX, MDX], star schema, dimensional modeling, tabular modeling)
- Experience with Power BI and other visualization tools is a plus
