Information Technology Internships – Meridian Headquarters
There are four internship openings within the Information Technology Service Desk Unit. Opportunities for educational growth include:
- Verify and document existing ISP computer systems for hardware inventory and fixed assets
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot standard PC hardware and software
- Resolve Level 1 user and system problems
- Operate and monitor a variety of computer equipment and peripheral devices
- Help resolve tier 1 IT issues that are submitted to the IT Department
- Intern in a Law Enforcement environment supporting over 600 users
- Students may lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances
- Other tasks as assigned
There is one internship opening for Website Design using WordPress.
Opportunities for educational growth include:
- Development and publication of ISP section websites
- Create and implement WordPress user manual and training guides
- Train fellow team members and identified program liaisons on program functionality and editing tools
- Other tasks as assigned
Preferred skills for all internship assignments:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 or newer
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013 or newer
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computer networking concepts
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computer hardware configuration and maintenance
- Good communication skills
- Good customer service skills
These are unpaid internships of 15-20 hours per week during the fall or spring sessions that can be utilized for academic credit. Interns are supervised by the Information Technology Manager or his designee.
