Emerging Biotech Early Molecule Business Development Manager

Your role:
The Emerging Biotech Early Molecule Business Development Manager will enable strategic engagements aimed at gaining early seeding opportunities in support of the North American Emerging Biotech customer base. This role will develop and drive focused collaboration and seeding efforts aimed at increasing the visibility and awareness of MilliporeSigma at the earliest drug development phases reaching across select Academia and Institutional targets, as well as collaboratively across the EMD Millipore organization, in North America. As the BD Manager, you are required to have technical product and applications knowledge across the MilliporeSigma product and services portfolios, especially focused on the earliest stage clinical development challenges of the emerging/start-up customer.  You will have a strong expertise in strategic modality process development, and the ability to apply this knowledge in order to facilitate technical discussions with the goals of increasing customer awareness, developing and strengthening customer relationships, and increasing product adoption in earliest development stages.
 
The position requires high level customer engagement and deep industry knowledge, collaboration, thought influence capabilities, pro-active strategic alignment, and partnership with the Commercial Sales and Marketing Segments teams to provide guidance and participate in Emerging Biotech Go to Market strategy, including, seminars, events, resources, tools, and grant programs focused on academic core facilities, Tech Transfer, biotech incubators and early stage start-ups. Other requirements include high level networking ability, attendance at industry conferences and networking events, and strong presentation skills. This role resides within the North America Regional field sales organization.
 
Addional Responsibilities:
  • Reach across Life Science organization to form liaison with Research Academic Technical and Sales teams in assessing opportunities for early seeding and visibility of PS capabilities in select Core Academic Facilities.
  • Reach across PS organization to Connect the Dots and increase opportunities for Promise Ventures (End to End, GENM), Actives & Formulations, and Process Solutions Services
  • Accelerate select customer collaborations aligned with Life Sciences strategies, applications development, and increasing early phase product awareness and adoption.
  • Provide insight and awareness of cutting-edge technologies and trends
  • Attend local & national events and support strategic campaigns in partnership with local sales teams and commercial marketing
  • Attend select Industry Conferences to stay aware of innovation and cutting edge technologies, and increase MilliporeSigma visibility by speaking and networking
  • Ability to travel at least 50%, mainly to academia and biotech hub locations
 
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA required; Graduate degree preferred, in biotechnology, chemistry, biology or similar discipline.
  • 5+ years of biologics development experience in the biotech/pharma industry or academia
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Drug Discovery and/or Process Development experience, along with broad business perspective.
  • Ability to influence others is essential. Organized, detail-oriented, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with sales/marketing tools (sales reporting, Salesforce.com, Palantir, or similar)
  • Advanced Analytical Skills: Excel skills and data analysis and tracking. Strong issue identification and problem analysis, with the ability to create and execute solutions based on the gathered data.
  • Familiarity with MilliporeSigma Life Science or other major life science supplier portfolios
  • Strong knowledge of biotech academia and industry resources/newsletters/websites to gather and summarize trends and translate into thought leadership and early seeding opportunities.
  • Pro-active collaborator in a highly matrixed organization: Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders and develop consensus. Effective interpersonal communication, written and verbal. Team oriented, results driven, self-motivated and energetic.
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, verbal and written presentation. Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze, present and report results.
