Fall Intern, IT (Remote)

Position Summary
MPS has the need for an intern from a Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, or similar discipline who has completed extensive programming coursework, or has experience using MS Access and programming in Microsoft Visual Basic or SQL.
MPS uses a number of Access database programs that sit between our fulfillment and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). These database programs perform mission critical functions such as special projects work order management. The program, as it exists, generally performs the functions for which it is intended but it is vulnerable to user and other errors that cause it to become unstable or otherwise not work properly. Some of these programs also rely on an old version of Impromptu as a source of data. The company is in the process of moving to Cognos 11 and we need to migrate any remaining Impromptu feeds or move to an ODBC connection instead.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work closely with the developer of these programs to accomplish the following:
1) review the programming for vulnerabilities and make recommendations on how to change code to protect the program from errors,
2) replace any remaining Impromptu data feeds with ODBC connection or Cognos 11 feed,
3) create a user manual for both users and the administrator to use when training other staff to troubleshoot problems.
