Finance and Administration Internship (Remote)

Position Summary
Libraries Without Borders seeks dynamic, self-starters who want to share their passion for expanding access to information, digital equity, and social justice with their penchant for finance and accounting. Finance and Administration interns will work closely with the Finance and Operations Coordinator to assist with organization-wide and program-specific processes. They will play a critical role in managing LWB’s financial, legal and administrative practices while acquiring basic knowledge of non-profit accounting. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector, as well as the opportunity to deepen their skills in budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, and legal and tax compliance.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative and curious about the varied components of managing the finances of a non-profit organization. They must be able to “roll with the punches” as well as think ahead to plan and prioritize varied tasks. A background in finance, accounting or business is preferred, but not required. Candidates must feel comfortable using Excel and preferably Quickbooks (or demonstrate a willingness to learn).
Essential Responsibilities
Commit to 10-20 hours of work per week.
Draft and update organizational and project budgets via QuickBooks; support long-term financial planning
Conduct data entry and assist with financial record-keeping
Prepare and process expense reports and invoices to funders
Analyze and gather data for special projects (e.g. taxes, audit, quarterly reporting)
Gather data and produce presentations and reports for internal meetings
Improve and standardize financial processes by researching industry best practices and their implementation
Plan for and support 501(c)3 legal responsibilities at the local and national level
