Date and Length of Role: March – Dec 2021 (approx.: 9 months) // 20 hours a week

Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® is a youth-focused strategy to educate, motivate and activate young people with and without intellectual disabilities as advocates for school climates that foster acceptance, inclusion and respect. Through our digital communications efforts both online and social media, we engage the #UnifiedGeneration through content and storytelling

What We Are Looking For:
For this role, we are looking for a motivated team member who is eager to dive into a few independent long-term projects but also contribute ideas to future content planning. The ideal candidate will enjoy working both in groups and independently and is interested in learning more about the behind the scenes work of digital communications. This person is motivated to stay on top of current trends, doing research and working from a data-driven perspective. The role of the fellow will be to create a portfolio of strategies, content and campaigns that will promote the key message points of Unified Champion schools to the target audiences and gain an understanding of the behind-the-scenes management of different platforms. Strong creative, writing, reporting and organizational skills are critical.

Primary Responsibilities:
-     Manage, conduct and implement an accessibility and content audit of www.generationunified.org
-     Create online course around digital communications for Learning Management System
-     Support daily engagement on @SONorthAmerica social media channels
-     Write, edit and schedule social media content, including alt-text, on a weekly basis
-     Strategize, plan and implement on new way to organize social media content for State Programs usage
-     Work with closely with Inclusive Youth Leadership Team on U.S. Youth Ambassador Initiatives
-     Collaborate with the Resources and Communications Team on joint efforts
-     Assist Manager of Digital Communications on on-going projects and content delivery timelines

Required Qualifications
-     Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel applications
-     Previous experience with WordPress and Hubspot is not required but preferred
-     Must be detail-orientated with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner
-     Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals from a range of cultures and professional backgrounds, especially youth
-     Ability to work well independently and remotely from home
-     Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
-     Interest in disability, inclusion, education, and communications
-     Previous knowledge or experience with Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools is welcomed
