Purpose of the Job:
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by applying principles of accounting to maintain financial information and prepare accurate financial reports as follows.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Supervises Staff Accountant or comparable position
·        Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to account and document business transactions
·        Maintains reconciliation of all GL Accounts for the organization
·        Prepares information, reports, and analysis for audits and reviews
·        Works with CFO on financial reporting packages for Board and various Committee meetings
·        Keeps up to date on payroll and accounting process and makes recommendations to CFO on accounting systems to ensure compliance and a strong set of internal controls
·        Prepares financial statement schedules for closing
·        Reviews all payroll liabilities for accuracy
·        Coordinates with CFO on best practice recommendations to improve efficiencies within the department
·        Assists in annual organizational budget process and other ad-hoc management reporting as requested
·        Maintains technical knowledge of organizational information sources
·        Coordinates with other departments and functions to prepare comprehensive financial reports
·        Reviews expenditures and makes recommendations on cost savings
·        Keeps up to date on the latest accounting standards and establishes, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
·        Devises and implements systems for general accounting functions
·        Complies and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to account and document business transactions
·        Reviews accuracy of documentation and approves accounts payable invoices and payments
·        Completes various annual federal and state compliance reports with Controller
·        Assists in budgeting processes
·        Performs ad-hoc reporting as requested
·        Backup for all accounting/bookkeeping functions
·        Working knowledge of US GAAP and other related guidance
·        Performs other duties as assigned.
·        Potential to become Controller
·        Hybrid Remote Position: Working from home 2-3 days/ week.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field. A minimum of two years’ experience of public accounting experience or four years of related experience is required. Experience relating to grant compliance, healthcare and/or nonprofit agencies is preferred. Licensures in the state of Washington as a Certified Public Accountant or eligible preferred.
 
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Previous training and/or experience utilizing accounting software required; intermediate computer skills required. Intermediate to Advanced skillset in Microsoft Excel is required.
 
Physical Demands;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and sit. The employee is occasionally required to move around the facility; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
