Product Data Analyst Summer Intern

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Are you a strategic thinker who is passionate about using data to deliver insights that drive action and provide those insights in a coherent story to shape business strategy? The Product Data Analyst working in the BIG-IP ADC product group is responsible for understanding how our customers interact, and want to interact with F5 across their journey, and for translating that information into irrefutable business insights. The Product Data Analyst will partner closely with other analytic teams across the organization including marketing, sales, service and product teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of our markets/ customers and share insights with senior business leaders. You will work within the team to formulate strategy, develop reports, setup dashboards and build executive presentations. 
This position will:

  • Understand the business strategy and priorities of the Product Group and design, drive data analysis to identify, size, and execute against opportunities
  • Design, develop and deliver data solutions including ad hoc analysis and data visualizations
  • Using an iterative and practical approach, create operational dashboards that provide bold insights into client behavior and KPIs for business outcomes
  • Propose and implement business metrics for senior management reviews and work with analysts to support business growth
  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data with a focus on actionable analytics
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze customer and market data to frame the opportunities for business investments
  • Interpret market/ customer data and set appropriate measurement strategy to validate leading and lagging indicators of performance against business goals.
  • Support ad hoc analytic requests from raw data through presentation quickly, efficiently and accurately
  • Manage relationship with the F5 BI team to build and refine data driven insights
  • Maintain courteous and professional working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
Required Skills Experience and Qualifications:

  • A current student enrolled in a technical discipline (or have the equivalent experience) at a four year institution in the US. Preferred majors are Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Informational Science, Human Centered Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied and Computational Math Sciences, Business with an Analytics/Data focus or related disciplines.
  • Approaching their last year of school before graduation at the time of the internship (ie. one summer left before graduation). Exceptional Sophomore or Freshmen may be considered.
  • Available for a 12 week internship between June and September of 2021. We are unable to accommodate internships outside of this time frame.
  • Problem solving skills, both conceptual and analytical
  • Excellent top down written and oral communication, especially to senior executives across the company
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with reporting and data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to articulate data analysis simply
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and analytical tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, SQL
  • Ability to work independently in a multifaceted fast paced environment, with minimal supervision
