Making A Difference Foundation (Tacoma, WA) - Mobile Food Bank and Home Delivery Volunteer Coordinator VISTA

'21-'22 Mobile Food Bank Volunteer Coordinator VISTA

The Vista project works to alleviate poverty by serving the most vulnerable populations: home-bound elderly or disabled people in subsidized housing who cannot come to the food bank due to medical, transportation, and safety issues, as well as individuals who live in underserved communities across the county. People who receive home delivery also receive other non-food items as needed, including hygiene supplies, household products, and pet food with the mobile food bank and home delivery being available six days a week during varied hours.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build capacity for the mobile food bank and home-delivery programs by working to build a volunteer program to recruit and train new volunteers to the program. These volunteers will also help prepare meal boxes for delivery. The VISTA member will develop a database of deliveries within the community, notify communities and locations where the mobile food bank will be ahead of arrival, and work to raise community awareness and support of the program. The member will be responsible for developing systems to track volunteers, implementing data evaluation and reporting strategies, and help us increase capacity to serve more clients in need. Building capacity to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our programs will fight poverty and ensure that our services reach those in need.
