Description
The Computing PhD program is looking for a self-motivated student to assist the Program Administrator with administrative tasks as well as helping with the program’s online presence via supporting its website and social media accounts. This position is flexible and can be adapted to fit your current skills and goals beyond graduation. We’ll help you train in areas you’re interested in! Applicants should be able to work between 10 and 15 hours per week and hours can be flexible based on school schedules.
Responsibilities
- Answer general e-mail, and walk-in inquiries
- Assist with event planning
- Data Entry
- Assist with the admissions process
- Help manage and create posts for the program’s social media accounts: Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube
- Assist with the program’s weekly Computing Colloquium, which may include basic video editing for recorded talks.
- Work with the Program Administrator to maintain and update the program website -- this may include drafting short articles, updating event posts, and managing other site content like directories.
- Other duties assigned as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Student status at Boise State (undergraduate or graduate student)
- Ability to work 10-15 hours/week
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with standard office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience using Google Apps
- Experience using WordPress, or publishing website content
- Experience using social media in a professional setting
- Previous office administrative experience
