Food is Medicine Intern - Idaho Hunger Relief Task Force (remote)

The IHRTF partners with Idaho healthcare clinics. Through this partnership, produce prescriptions are provided to individuals who are diabetic or prediabetic and food insecure.

Opportunity/Project:

  • Work with data to ensure participants meet enrollment criteria.
  • Conduct participant program enrollment and update data information.
  • Assess participants’ needs, preferences, and abilities and use these to develop tailored care plans.
  • Evaluate participants’ progress periodically and adjust communication and guidance to improve outcomes.
  • Maintain the program database, ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines when working with participant data.
  • Conduct research searches and evaluations for program efficacy and advancement.
  • Provide support for Idaho Produce Prescription Collaborative meetings.
  • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Produce Prescription Program Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Compassion and ability to relate to different clients with various needs
  • Organizational skills are needed to manage several different projects at once.
  • Ability to use experience, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to adapt current practices to new situations and select the best course of action.
  • Working experience and comfort with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other apps, such as project management technology.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals

 Skills to be developed:

  • Create materials to evaluate the impact of program outcomes.
  • Research and write content for group membership distribution.
  • Written community-facing materials to promote Idaho produce prescription programs.
  • Provide organization, management, and evaluation of IdPPC meeting.
  • Work with Excel data sheet to maintain data with HIPAA compliance.
  • Manage a specific volunteer project.
