Procurement Intern - Blue Cross of Idaho

Overview:

The Procurement department at Blue Cross of Idaho is responsible for all business processes related to competitive bidding, supplier selection and supplier contract negotiations. The team works with all functional departments inside BCI in carrying out these duties. Procurement also stewards the supplier management process which is performed by various departments. Key roles in the area include Category Managers, Procurement Coordinators, Systems Analysts, and Shipping/Receiving Clerk.

Opportunity/Project Duties: 

  • Metrics – review and understand the data; support regular updates; assist and implement improvements for strategic and operational procurement metrics
  • Master data – understand the master data environment including supplier, inventory , purchase order, transactions, contracts; support accuracy, timeliness and updates as necessary for the procurement process
  • SharePoint site – update and archiving old documents; rearranging storage of documents; assistance in process documentation updates
  • Support procurement related transactions in business systems (Workday and Supplier Contracts systems) supporting both strategic and operational activities

Project Duties: 

  • Defining scope of work for the project
  • Managing the timeline of a project
  • Providing regular update reporting of project status
  • Producing metrics, reports and analytics related to the project

Qualifications: 

  • Organization – ability to multi-task and manage time with multiple priorities
  • Inquisitiveness - not afraid to ask questions, attempt to figure things out
  • Independence - can work under moderate supervision; is self-motivated
  • MS Office - proficient Outlook, Excel and Word skills
