Outreach Intern - WCA

Overview: The WCA is a longstanding nonprofit is Boise providing free community and residential based services to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Our Outreach Department serves to bring awareness and education to the community at large about domestic abuse, sexual assault, our services and healthy relationships.

Opportunity/Project Duties:

  • Work with the Outreach specialist to coordinate distribution of outreach materials across the wider community.  
  • Provide administrative support for strategic initiatives that improve access to our hotline.
  • Coordinate ribbon making for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
  • Assist with Social Media 
  • Assist with facilitating the use of WCA outreach materials amongst the BSU community
  • Access to a vehicle is preferred but not required to deliver materials and resources to other organizations
  • Data entry associated with the Outreach Department .
  • Data entry associated with our outreach presentations , events and tabling efforts 
  • Support the delivery of mass mailings and other associated campaigns.
  • Assists in events and campaigns that support our outreach department, including Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) Sue B (October) First Responder Baskets (September) City Santa (December) and other associated activities.
  • Assist with donation drives, donation drop offs and other project based work associated with the In Kind giving at The WCA through the philanthropy department.(works closely with outreach department)
  • Supports additional events and tabling opportunities where needed.
  •  Assist with other tasks that help the agency as a whole achieve our mission of safety , healing and freedom from Domestic abuse and sexual assault.
  • General Administrative tasks including data management and mass mailing support.

The successful Work U student will be:

 Working conditions/ Environment:

Our office is open between 9-5pm Monday - Friday. This role may require occasional weekend, early morning, and/or evening hours. 

Approximately 85% of time is spent on location, indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Up to 15% of time is dedicated to travel time and attendance at outside activities.

Approximately 75% of time is spent sitting at a desk or workstation.

Approximately 25% of time is spent standing, walking and bending.

Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.

Should possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation necessary to attend off-site meetings/conferences/events as well as visiting various WCA properties.

WCA's requires participants to have valid identification, undergo a background check, sign a liability waiver and sign a confidentiality agreement.


What is Work U?
