Philanthropy Intern - WCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The WCA Philanthropy department works to build relationships with members of our community on both a individual and corporate level to bring in vital funds that enable The WCA to achieve our mission of Safety, Healing and Freedom from Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault.

The Work U Philanthropy Intern has a focus on tasks and projects related to, but not limited to, WCA new donor cultivation , our Corporate Pillar program, special events and data management across all projects. This position collaborates frequently with all members of the philanthropy team as well as the wider WCA agency.  

Project Duties

  • Working closely with The Volunteer Coordinator to assist in recruitment and management of WCA volunteers. Providing data management and administrative support to help the program run successfully. Additionally you may also support the volunteer coordinator in assisting the public with external donation drives and events that benefit the WCA. 
  • Working with our Philanthropy Specialist to develop and execute meaningful thankyous and further engagement opportunities for new donors. 
  • Working closely with our corporate pillars manager to facilitate meaningful relationships with our corporate partners in our community, through events, mailings and 1 on 1 engagement opportunities where needed.
  • Data entry associated with the Philanthropy Department .
  • Data entry associated with WCA presentations, events and tabling efforts 
  • Support the delivery of mass mailings and other associated campaigns.
  • Assists in events and campaigns that support our philanthropy department, including Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), Sue B (October), Witches Night Out (October), Holiday Sponsorship (December), Giving Tree (November/December),  City Santa (December) and other associated activities.
  • Assist with donation drives, donation drop offs and other project based work associated with the In Kind giving at The WCA through the philanthropy department.(works closely with outreach department)
  • General Administrative tasks including data management and mass mailing support.

Working conditions/ Environment:

  • Our office is open between 9-5pm Monday - Friday. This role may require occasional weekend, early morning, and/or evening hours. 
  • Approximately 85% of time is spent on location, indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Up to 15% of time is dedicated to travel time and attendance at outside activities.
  • Approximately 75% of time is spent sitting at a desk or workstation.
  • Approximately 25% of time is spent standing, walking and bending.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.
  • Should possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation necessary to attend off-site meetings/conferences/events as well as visiting various WCA properties.

WCA's requires participants to have valid identification, undergo a background check, sign a liability waiver and sign a confidentiality agreement.
