Student Accounting Assistant

Purpose

Assist the BSPR Business Manager with a variety of day-to-day accounting tasks, data management, compliance tracking and audit preparation. All activities provided indirect support to the university offices of  the Controller, Treasury, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Essential Functions

  • Review posted transactions for account code accuracy
  • Assist with corrections and journal entries
  • Review all accounting process tracking for office management transactions
  • Reconciliation from posted transactions to external systems
  • Collaborate with office manager and chief engineer for yearly equipment inventory
  • Update revenue from miscellaneous sources tracking when funds are received or expensed
  • Assist in all weekly, monthly and yearly recurring business office transactions and reporting
  • Provide data as needed from tracking and/or reporting during year end and audit
  • Promote and maintain good relations for the University through contact with coworkers, campus partners and others.
  • Abide by and enforce policies outlined by University Financial Services, Boise State University, local, state and federal entities.
  • Responsible for performing tasks that ensure an efficient and accurate business office.
  • Maintain professionalism and arrive on time with a positive attitude
  • Use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets in all relevant tasks

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Performs accounting support functions that require substantial organizational skill and experience
  • Provides advanced support for the department or a project with demonstrated ability to utilize independent judgment and perform decision making on an administrative level
  • Limited supervision is provided and is expected to operate independently in the performance of a wide range of duties.
  • Attention to detail in all tasks required
  • Tasks may require independent learning for completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Pursuing a degree within the College of Business and Economics (COBE)
  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Familiarity with office administration and procedures

Notes

We are seeking two student positions. Our office is open 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday, but we are able to flex to accommodate student academic schedules.

We are seeking students who are able to work the full academic year (fall, spring, summer) but will hire on a semester basis to accommodate student academic schedules. 

Schedule will flex during university closures like Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break and all Finals Weeks.

It is a requirement to work onsite for this position but some tasks can be completely remotely after training period

Pay is $13/hr. Increases available based upon skill, experience and duration in position
