Economic Development Research Intern

The City of Saint Paul Department of Planning and Economic Development is hiring for a Economic Development Research Intern. This intern will receive relevant on the job training and mentoring while working on projects that directly impact stakeholders, and are designed to enhance their academic experience.

Information About the Internship:

This internship will focus on assisting with research, data collection, and analysis to advance the commercial corridor profile work and the MSPTechHire scholarship program.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Creating profiles for the City's commercial corridors to include data on zoning, permitting, investments, and demographic data utilizing ArcGIS data
  • Performing geographic analyses and creating charts and tables to display data that will inform policy making decisions and promote business development
  • Collecting data regarding the MSP TechHire program and scholarships and researching skills and career pathways for technology positions

 Internship Details:

  • This internship is full-time during the summer, with potential for extension during the school year

 Position Requirements:

  • Have completed at least one semester of undergraduate or graduate school in public policy, planning, urban studies, geography, public administration, applied economics, political science, business administration, housing studies, architecture, or a related field
  • Must maintain active student status for the duration of internship
