Global Talent Communications and Events Intern

Global Talent, Communications and Events Internship 

 

This internship is normally unpaid, but students may opt to receive up to 3 credits of academic credit. Students whose majors are within the Departments of Anthropology, Biological Sciences, History, Linguistics, Psychology, Sociology, World Languages, or Early Childhood Education are eligible to receive a $1,800 stipend applied to their student accounts in installments.

 

Global Talent helps college-educated immigrants and refugees reclaim their professional careers in the U.S. We work with New Americans from diverse professional backgrounds and provide career coaching, mentorship, and professional networking opportunities to help them navigate the path back to their careers. 

 

About the Position 

 

Global Talent seeks a part-time intern who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications, public administration, international studies, or a related field. The Communications and Events intern supports the Global Talent team and reports to the Career Advisor. 

 

The Communication and Events intern supports two primary projects:

 

  1. Organizing a Career Summit, an event that brings together Global Talent participants and professionals from the Boise community for mock interviews and networking.
  2. Supporting the management of a social media calendar and developing content (including written and graphic) for the Global Talent website and social media pages. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Support writing, graphics for website, social media and external relations 
  • Post and help manage and support social media calendar
  • Research content for social media and the website
  • Work with the Global Talent team to organize a Career Summit, including outreach to program participants and managing event logistics
  • As time allows, collaborate with Idaho Office for Refugees IOR) Communication Manager to support IOR social media posts
  • Other duties as assigned

 

About You 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • English proficient
  • Able to use social media platforms including: Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin
  • Knowledge in Canva, Microsoft suite, and Google suite 
  • Interest in refugee and immigrant resettlement and international development
  • Experience with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Motivated, able to work independently, strong time-management skills
  • Problem solver, willingness to look for alternative ways to solve a problem
  • Ability to work in an adaptable and flexible environment
  • Previous experience with immigrants/refugees or communications is a plus

 

 

This is a hybrid position. The Global Talent team works in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
