Southwest Airlines is hiring recent & upcoming college grads for our various full-time associate roles in Technology through our Direct College Hire Program. 

 

Our Technology Direct College Hire Program is a pathway for recent college graduates and individuals who are early in their technology careers to begin their professional growth journey. Through this program, we aim to help you develop lasting relationships while creating a meaningful career through on-the-job mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. We welcome emerging Technology professionals to our upcoming January, June, or August 2025 cohorts.

Associate Technology Analyst

The Associate Technology Analyst invests in the future of Southwest by supporting product development for teams throughout Crew Operations, Reservations, and Cargo. In addition, this cross-functional role collaborates with various Employees to deliver enhancements that elevate our customers' flying experience. The Associate Technology Analyst is a detail-oriented thinker, who is innovative and excited to drive the future of Southwest Airlines. 

Our Associate Technology Analysts will have the opportunity to support one or more of the following Teams: Reservations & Cargo and Air Operations. 

As an Associate Technology Analyst, you can expect to:  

Conduct needs analysis to create quality solutions  

Ensure solutions are aligned with stated requirements and comply with departmental standards  

Manage activities to ensure solutions are delivered on-time and within budget   

Serve as a resource to ensure effective communications.  

 

Qualifications: 

Required: High School Diploma or GED 

Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent formal training 

Required: Entry-level experience; developing skills and knowledge in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or another IT related field 

Preferred: Experience with React, Python, Java, Postgres SQL, Oracle, AWS, NodeJS, Kafka, Kanban 

Preferred: Training in basic DevSecOps, Agile, CI/CD, and Company Instructor Led Training to gain Doman Knowledge 

Basic knowledge of business analysis, process modeling and redesign 

Basic knowledge of technical environments

Associate Software Engineer

This Associate Software Engineer delivers on our Purpose by designing, coding, testing, documenting, and implementing well-integrated application systems in accordance with Customer requirements and standards. This role is involved in an agile environment with continuous deployment to ensure technology operates as expected. The Associate Software Engineer is a detail-oriented thinker, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest’s Technology.     

Our Associate Software Engineers will have the opportunity to support one or more of the following Teams: Field Services, Infrastructure, Air Operations, Crew Operations, and Technology & Ground Operations Associate System Engineer. 

As an Associate Software Engineer, you can expect to:  

Design, write program code, test, document, and implement functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated application systems in accordance with Customer requirements, organizational methodologies, and standards

Associate System Engineer

The Associate System Engineer delivers on our Purpose by joining the Digital Employee Experience (DEX) Team, responsible for our Nexthink solution that is used to monitor and manage our Workstations across the company. This role evaluates, develops, customizes, installs, and implements functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated systems in accordance with Customer requirements, and organizational methodologies and standards. The Associate System Engineer is a detail-oriented thinker, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest’s Technology. 

As an Associate System Engineer, you can expect to:  

Work with team to research problems, plan solutions, recommend software and systems, and coordinate developments in an orderly manner to meet business requirements 

Monitor and test performance and capacity for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with partners to implement fixes 

Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and resolve escalations of simple to medium complexity 

Assist in the implementation and updates to the platform strategy and road map 

Qualifications:

The Associate Cloud DevOps Engineer delivers on our Purpose by joining the Loyalty Team, supporting the day-to-day operations of the Rapid Rewards program which includes account management, new member conversion, credit card acquisitions, strategic partnerships, promotions, and Customer support. This role collaborates with various internal stakeholders to provide a world class loyalty program. The Associate Cloud DevOps Engineer is a detail-oriented thinker, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest’s Technology. 

As an Associate Cloud DevOps Engineer, you can expect to:  

Operate in a DevOps culture and team, responsible for architecture, design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations of new and emerging technology platforms 

Implement automation tools for automatic code deployment (CI/CD) 

Develop and evolve cloud infrastructure 

Meet with stakeholders as requested by leaders to listen and gather requirements that address business challenges and opportunities 

Build knowledge in cloud infrastructure, performing design reviews and consulting with your team and mentor to learn design best practices 

Participate in system and acceptance testing to ensure that systems are functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated 

Test and implement system and enhancements using techniques that preserve system integrity
