Internship Timeframe
- Part-time between 10-20 hours per week with the cap of 160 hour total
- Start May 12, 2025
Compensation
- $16.50 per hour, paid by Boise State College of Business and Economics
Internship Overview / Description
The Administrative Assistant Intern will work directly with the Executive Director of Family Advocates, gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit administration. Responsibilities include supporting board of directors meetings, assisting with the transition into the new fiscal year, and contributing to the development of the upcoming budget. The intern will also manage and organize financial records using an online database, gaining practical experience in nonprofit financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with leadership to drive organizational growth and efficiency, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to develop skills in nonprofit management, financial oversight, and organizational development.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Engage in strategic planning and assist with administrative tasks
- Organize documents for board and committee meetings
- Observe leadership dynamics and operations in a small nonprofit organization
- Provide HR and payroll support, including timecards, payroll, and onboarding
- Offer general administrative support, including scheduling and office tasks
- Manage and update online databases to maintain an accurate record
Possible Projects:
- Assist in developing the new fiscal year budget
- Overhaul and update staff documents
- Create and develop enhancement activities and training for the Board of Directors
- Organize files in the online database – Boomerang
Requirements / Desired Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Dropbox.
- Comfortable with data entry tasks and working with online databases.
- Proactive and independent work ethic, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must pass a Criminal History Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in administrative or operations roles (though not required).
- Experience or current study in Business Management, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
