Business Systems Summer Intern - Venture College

Overview of Intern’s Project

Venture College is seeking a Business Systems Intern to lead the research, selection, and implementation of a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This project will streamline program registration, event management, and communication processes. The intern will play a crucial role in ensuring our CRM is properly structured, data is migrated and cleaned, and staff are trained on the new system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and select a CRM platform that meets the needs of Venture College.
  • Implement and configure the CRM for program registration, calendar invites, and email communications.
  • Upload and clean existing Venture College contact data, ensuring proper labeling and tagging.
  • Develop a training guide/workbook for future employees to onboard efficiently.
  • Conduct a training session for the Venture College team on CRM usage.

Qualifications:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience with CRM software (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work independently and manage a short-term project.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data organization and cleanup.
  • Effective communication skills for training and documentation.

Skills Intern Will Develop:

  • Hands-on experience with CRM selection, implementation, and training.
  • Exposure to business operations and process improvement.
  • Project management experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • A tangible impact on Venture College’s operational efficiency.

Cara Van Sant is the Director of Boise State University’s Venture College, where she works with entrepreneurs to launch and accelerate businesses across Idaho. With experience in recruitment, business development, local government, startups, and higher education, she brings a well-rounded perspective to guiding students through new challenges and opportunities. Cara is passionate about helping students build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and navigate their career paths with clarity and purpose.

Holly Funk brings a strong background in innovative strategies. With experience in creative agencies and public institutions, she brings expertise in marketing, communications, and project management to Venture College. Passionate about design thinking and collaboration, she is an incredible mentor, helping students build strong brands and develop creative, strategic solutions that drive their ideas forward.
