Community Outreach & Marketing Intern - For Their Thoughts Foundation (Fall 2025 intern)

Overview of Organization: The For Their Thoughts® Foundation (FTTF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with dementia and their caregivers through hands-on education, resource navigation, financial relief, and ensuring no one faces these challenges alone. By fostering community engagement and collaboration, we aim to improve understanding, combat stigma, and build a supportive network for families and professionals alike. Through our initiatives, we strive to cultivate empathy and knowledge, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for all impacted by dementia.

Responsibilities:

The intern(s) project duties will focus on our project and/or event planning, community outreach, marketing/sm content planning and creation, and fundraising planning for our 35 day “move a thon” occurring every Spring 2026. Duties may include:

  • Create and manage a project work plan for the MoveFTT event with the executive director’s oversight and guidance
  • Attend and participate in For Their Thought Foundation board and MoveFTT committee meetings to take notes and share project updates
  • Conduct local outreach to local community organizations, dementia care facilities, colleges, and universities, schools, and non and for-profit organizations and businesses to participate in the event and identify event sponsors and codify organizational contacts into a spreadsheet
  • Set up meetings with identified community contacts and listen to their challenges, needs, hopes, etc. through a prescribed meeting outline of questions; report / present findings
  • Create a social media and marketing content calendar to schedule ongoing post about For Their Thoughts Foundation, inclusive of templates or posts in Canva
  • Increase followers & engagement on social media accounts from 1,000 to 2,000 at the end of internship
  • Create/update a 1-page social media guidelines document (inclusive language, do’s & don’ts, standard hashtags, etc)
  • Make a creative brief with the types of podcasts that would be a fit for FTT and generate a list of 50 potential podcasts (include booking and contact information)
  • Research and identify smaller media outlets that the community/individual use to send press releases besides the big media outlets

Qualifications / Applicant Requirements:

  • Team oriented, self starter with good organization, time management and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
  • Curious and interested in learning from others
