OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATION AND THE ROLE
The Idaho Hispanic Foundation (IHF) is committed to strengthening Idaho’s Hispanic and underserved communities through cultural, educational, and economic development initiatives. We empower small businesses, provide workforce development opportunities, and support leadership growth. Our Family and Community Resource Center(FCRC) serves as a hub for essential services, advocacy, and support, helping individuals from all backgrounds navigate challenges and access critical resources for long-term stability and success.
Internship Overview
This project-based internship is designed to give hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, community outreach, and resource coordination. Interns will lead and contribute to key projects that directly impact the Family and Community Resource Center’s effectiveness in serving the community. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about social services, nonprofit management, and community engagement.
Key Projects & Responsibilities
1. Community Outreach & Engagement
- Project: Develop and execute an outreach strategy to increase community awareness of
- available resources.
- Assist with distributing flyers, conducting surveys, and connecting with community
- members.
- Organize and attend local events to promote center services and programs.
2. Program Coordination & Workshop Support
- Project: Plan and support at least one workshop or community event from start to finish.
- Assist with logistics, scheduling, participant outreach, and on-site coordination.
- Gather feedback to improve future programming.
3. Digital & Social Media Communications
- Project: Enhance the center’s digital presence by creating engaging content.
- Update and manage social media platforms to share center news and events.
- Work on a digital resource guide or newsletter for community members.
4. Client Support & Resource Management
- Project: Improve intake and referral processes for community members seeking services.
- Help assess needs, provide referrals, and track service usage.
- Work closely with staff to ensure resources are effectively distributed.
5. Data Collection & Impact Reporting
- Project: Develop a system to track and report on key community engagement metrics.
- Organize and analyze data on program participation and resource utilization.
- Present findings and recommendations for program improvement.
6. Special Initiatives & Community Partnerships
- Project: Assist with special projects such as resource drives, seasonal programs, and partnership development.
- Conduct research to identify new community resources and funding opportunities.
- Support collaboration efforts with schools, businesses, and local organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for community service and nonprofit work.
- Interest in social services, public policy, community engagement, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to work independently on projects while collaborating with a team.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
- Prior community service, outreach, or event planning experience is a plus.
